The Story Thus Far....

This story began with the lives of twin sisters, identical in both height and build, but completely different in every other aspect. One was white, a peaceful mare, who disliked fighting unless she was provoked, the other, black with a fiery nature, who could not resist a fight. They lived a relatively peaceful life, Ilinga, the white mare, gently refusing to fight Yuri, her sister, who was constantly trying to better her. Their father paid almost no attention to Ilinga, preferring to teach Yuri, who was fiery and impatient, in the art of battle. Instead, Ilinga recieved almost all of their mother's attention, being gentle and sweet. Each envied the other, Yuri more so than Ilinga, until they hated one another.

Then one day their world was shattered by the arrival of two jealous dark grey stallions. In one day, the two brothers drove their sire away, and overtook the herd. Yuri and Ilinga's mother followed their father, leaving the two fillies to look after themselves. The two sisters could not cope with the jealous nature of the two new stallions and left to make their own way in life.

The two brothers cursed them always, yet wanted to possess them so badly they followed, one, Steel, chasing Yuri, the other, Iron, chasing Ilinga. The two mares went opposite ways, Ilinga finding herself wandering through a harsh and barren land, with very little water or food and the sun burning into her coat. Yuri found herself wading through a deep and murky swamp, much of the water stale and undrinkable, what plants there were, poison. The two stallions were lost along the way, and the sisters forged on, Ilinga discovering a hilly home with lush grass and plenty of water. She christened it Misty Hills. Yuri too, found herself a mountainous home, with plenty of food and waterand calling it Black Mountains.

Exploring the wide strip of land next to their homes one day, the sisters ran into each other, discovering they had each claimed a territory next to one another, the wide expanse of flat ground the only thing separating them. Neither would leave, neither would give in and so they, and those who inherit the land after them, are doomed to war for as long as both mountains stand. Whose side will you join?
